Create Your Reality” | Concept

What excites me the most about the idea of extraterrestrial life existing in the first place is the the possibility that these species’ have achieved a higher or more expansive conscious awareness over the millions of years they will likely have on our species. This project is a visual representation that agrees with my current understanding of what it means to be highly aware and mindful in day-to-day life. Otherwise known as a “create your reality” mindset, where thoughts create or manifest the 3D reality/environment we actively “project” around us. The following elements come together to visually represent this concept:

One large cube-like structure with rounded edges. This represents the mind, and its current pattern represents thoughts, goals, morals, ambitions, and perception… basically who we are in-essence in this moment. It is metallic and made up of a maze-like pattern with walls that appear to “breathe”. A light, or tether, connects the large shape to a smaller shape. The smaller shape represents goals, ideas, and thoughts in general that exist outside of our current mindset. They can either originate from outside minds, transferred through language… or may just be floating around in the thought realm (which is the environment in which we are looking in on, some call it the “4th Dimension”) and float close enough to be acknowledged and attached to. There are many different patterns floating around this one large cube, but the cube is only able to tether to and “experience” (thought pattern = experience = physical pattern) with the shape it is connected to. The cube can choose to be aware of its ability to change its pattern, or simply allow other forces at play to be in control.

Packing” | Exploring Character Rigging + Design

This project followed news that my family had made the decision to relocate to Austin, Texas. To get into the spirit, I designed this fun character animation and text write-on.

Character Design

Dem Cheeks

Refreshing and softening the character’s facial features was necessary. In this case, a second opinion with fresh eyes made a world of difference, eyes goes stale after hours of staring at the character… teamwork makes the dream work!

The Challenge

Learning Rubber Hose

Never having had prior experience rigging characters, this project was a bit of a challenge. “There’s a plug-in for that.” Hooray for learning curves!

Texture Development

Adding Texture

In the spirit of learning new techniques, photoshop brushes were dusted off as well. This project was a dip into the icy pool of the unknown. The added textures bless this composition with depth and a distinct style beyond expectation.

The rainbow light streaming through the window was inspired by the natural light captured at a friends house in college one morning. I thought I was dreaming when I opened my eyes, it was beautiful. To this day, it is still one of my most peaceful memories. In this piece, it represents the positive impact big changes can have in life. Everyone goes through changes, and they can be scary. However, it is what YOU make of that change that makes a difference.
